Anyone had much experience with Achillies Tendonitis? I first noticed a sore foot while jogging over 2 weeks ago and had to walk home, I didn't think too much of it... It didn't feel too bad a couple of days after and I did a 90km ride in the hills without noticing it too much. Did a couple of short rides during the week again without noticing it too much on the bike.. But since last weekend it's been constantly painful, limping when I walk etc, didn't dare ride the bike.. Doc's got me on Voltaren and diagnosed what it was (Achilles Tendonitis).. Not sure if it's getting better or not, anyone had it and have any idea how long I can expect to be off the bike?

Yeh got it real bad a few years ago, I told the local gym guru that the Achiles feels like wire.

He said to give up jogging, so I took up cycling instead. If you play footy ,

just play in a position where you do not have to do too much running.

That's be the coach eh Andrew, or the ex-player/coach, now alleged commentater?

I suppose for those that want to keep running, only do it on grass or soft sand.

Or run as far as a full forward, gee they must cover about 100m per game before turning to commentating.

I think I've got this largely fixed now, thought I'd post it in case anyone else gets it... Had regular physio (ultrasound and accupuncture) which seemed to help a fair bit... Plenty of calf and achillies stretches and most importantly the eccentric exercises (calf raises?).. Also saw a podiatrist and got some orthotics for walking/running etc..

Pain free now, been back on the bike for a month or so and even been for a couple of short jogs..
