Any advice out there for purchasing a single speed / fixie bike (Flip/flop rear hub) ?
Thought it would be an idea to purchase one of these to ride to work and the gym and very minimalist to maintain.

Hi Robert,

Have you tried riding these routes in this way - no gear changes or coasting - yet? It seems
to me that it'd be tiring, hard on the knees and fairly dangerous in traffic, so see whether you
can handle it around town first. I'm pretty sure there's no way to lock a freehub without
wrecking it, though.

As for maintenance, I can't see that having to lube the rear derailleur and replace the gear
cable now and then are a big deal. I reckon you're just trying to justify your retro urges :-)

a lot to read, and use the search functions before asking a question on those sites, or the standard reply is UTFS
