Any advice out there for purchasing a single speed / fixie bike (Flip/flop rear hub) ? Thought it would be an idea to purchase one of these to ride to work and the gym and very minimalist to maintain.

Hi Robert,
Have you tried riding these routes in this way - no gear changes or coasting - yet? It seems to me that it'd be tiring, hard on the knees and fairly dangerous in traffic, so see whether you can handle it around town first. I'm pretty sure there's no way to lock a freehub without wrecking it, though.
As for maintenance, I can't see that having to lube the rear derailleur and replace the gear cable now and then are a big deal. I reckon you're just trying to justify your retro urges :-)

Nah nothing better to do except ride a bike....do occassionally get out there on the roads when Im not too busy posting messages on cycle2max and hillclimbr....just wanted to share the love
