Recently iv been doing some riding in the rain and have found that i lack confidence when cornering in wet conditions and was wondering if anyone had some tips for taking corners faster with less chance of slipping off in the wet?

Hey Jake
Even pros generally take it easy in wet descents so don't feel like you should push it. That said, make sure you are running good quality tyres, and nothing too narrow (at least 22mm or wider). You can try dropping just a little presssure from both tyres (say 90-95 instead of 110-120) ti increase the tyre's contact area. Do all your braking before you start to corner using both brakes more or less equally so you aren't braking once in the corner. Try to pick good lines using as much of the lane as you safely can. Don't change your line mid corner. Keep your weight back and stay relaxed. One of the best ways to improve descending is to follow behind a better descender (someone you trust) and try to copy their braking and lines. Good luck mate.

Just to add to all that good technical advice: Unless you're desperate to win a pro race and get that lucrative contract for next season, don't take risks you're not comfortable with. If you're getting dropped by groups which are reckless on wet roads, find someone else to ride with.
