I was just wondering what the consensus was out there regarding a womans place in a bicycle store...

I have found some people I speak to in bike stores know less than me at times and I know bugger all. I could see a female knowing more than a male in a bike store, it is not that hard. Bicycle Express have some females working there and I find them helpful when I go shopping there.

There are some pretty hard core women cyclists out there, as well as a few that work in bike shops which can appreciate the finer things in life like a well built Italian Colnago, or a Spanish Orbea, yet show pride with Taiwanese made Giants/Treks (for those that dont have a bottomless budjet). Most I met have a tendency to opt for brand new quality technology and drool more over a new set of Zipp carbon wheels than ride on outdated retro equipment like me! (Although a lady riding a penny farthing almost ran me over on Sunday afternoon while crossing the main road at Mclaren Vale.)

a vague question... perhaps a woman's place in a bike shop is selling something to someone, or buying something for someone (themselves or their partner/friend/family member) or just browsing.
whilst there once was an issue regarding women purchasing houses and homes (if you cared for modern current affair style television), I have never noted a discern between sexes in bike shops. My GF used to buy cycling gear for me from local bike shops and never whinged about discriminatory service.
Perhaps you have an opinion?
cheers and beers, jd.
