Hi All,

New to the scene of cycling, but more importantly the challenge of hill riding. when I was around 9 years of age I found out that I could run long distance as I went in the local fun run and came 6th overall as a 9 year old. This paved way for what was a long journey for myself 22 years in total in long distance running, alot of success but also alot of fails but that comes with any sport.

2 years ago I bought an old steel road bike and started riding as running was not going so well and I had read about cross training, long story short I still run but cross training for the bike. I took the plunge last year and had a go at a tri, came 9th overall which I was happy about because I came out of the water in 41st place (not a swimmer never will be) and made all my ground up in the next 2 legs.

Last year I took the plunge and bought a Giant defy 2 2009 model to find out if this is type of sport I could adapt to without going out and buying a over the top bike that would sit in the garage and not get used.

I have become addicted to riding hills/mountains????? I don't know what it is about them that has me coming back to punish myself over and over knowing that it's going to hurt and that I will be paying for it later. I'm not a fast climber as some of you on here are (I like the long climbs ones that take over an hour to complete) am I mad?

What I would like to know has anybody on here done the climb to the top of Mt Tamberine Qld from the southern end to the top? I drove this the other day and thought this is one ride I would love to do. I don't know the distance but the gradient was around 15% the whole way.

Anyway Thanks for reading my first post and any feedback will be greatful.
