Done the registration for the Coast 2 Coast, but happens to be same day as the Clipsal. Expecting numbers to be way down for participants of the Coast 2 Coast. Anyone else considering escaping the noise from Adelaide and doing the day trip to Victor? Hope there will be someone out else out there?

Yeah Robert, I'm heading out and doin it. I'm gonna try and break the mental 1-hour barrier for the Mini C2C with my kids! Nice gentle ride along the bikeway. I've never done the mini before, so I'm looking forward to it................although if some 8 year-old punk wants to attack me on a hill I'm gonna respond and he'll be toast!!

To make up for the TDU, I plan to stop at every refreshment stop for about 20mins each, roll out the picnic rug and stuff myself with fruit cake, fruit juice etc. Bike SA know how to put on a show.

Yeah, those junior racers arent afraid of a good race up a hill. There are a few in the Blackwood Mega Bike Rides that know how to ride a bike hard and aint afraid to take on anybody ...... they are light and fast, best way to tackle them is challenge them on a long gradient, hopefully they run out of legs Mind you it is interesting to see someone maintain a cadence above 180rpm on junior gears. Hope you enjoy your picnic run, hopefully the weather will be idea for a day at the beach and not too much wind

Why would the numbers be down? I can't imagine that many cyclists would want to hang around that boganfest. It's annoying enough trying to get through the city now - Wakefield St - Kensington Rd was a real obstacle course this morning.

I won't have time to do the whole ride due to work, but I'll probably chase the pointy end partway, then turn around and catch a tailwind home!

Michael, once again you have managed to pidgeon hole alot of people. I was one of those "bogans" that had committed funds to go to the "boganfest" and that did not allow me to go on this years coast to coast. First one Ive missed in a few years.

Bad timing!!! Oh and by the way ... it is possible to enjoy both motorsport and a love of cycling.

So far "a lot of people" is just you, and none of the people I ride with wanted to go, so my argument stands for the time being :-)

I guess that if we regard cycling purely as recreation there's no conflict, but if we also commute and shop by bike (I'm almost car-free), care about the transport problems of our cities and give a **** about the future of the planet in general, we'd have a bit of a problem with car racing.

And if you don't think it encourages hoon driving on the road, you haven't been riding around Adelaide for the last week or so. Effing bogans.

It's a shame I had to turn off at Meadows and come home in order to have lunch and get to work on time - I was motoring along at the front with a nice fast group. Onya Chris, Frank, Dave & Alan :-)

Hey, Michael

I found another green-caring-ute-driver for you. I was riding to work the other day when I saw a "fully sick" ute painted green with the words "Eco-Walling" on the side. Now the ute was pushin out about 80metres to the gallon, but at least the owner built walls that were ecological

Hi Aaron, the reality about being environmentally friendly is all spin to encourage us not to blame the government for not planning for the future population growth which requires increasing amounts of services such as gas, water electricity. Instead they (the governments) cheap plan is to make essential services very expensive to encourage us to share more and be happy about it. The term "ecofriendly" is a catch cry and is impossible to achieve because we are all consumers of the environment...how much are you willing to pay for your fair share??? I will become ecofriendly when Im six foot under pushing up daisies, until then I remain both a consumer and a taxpayer of the system that shears us like sheep so they can have the very best of status and position in our society and spin their bull**** politics to us. Dont believe all the spin and manure the government feeds you as they only want your vote to maintain the status quo and not question their lack of wisdom and poor planning and selling our futures....

Hi Robert,

I just thought I would introduce myself as I always see you on every single hill climb list - respect! Glad to here you had a good ride on the coast to coast. I had to give it a miss this year, I went for a swim with flippers and I managed to get 5 blisters a few days out from the ride, but at least I had not signed up yet. It probably was my favourite ride last year! Hi also to other riders....see you on the hill climb list...Happy riding!
