Just wondering who out there is doing the 2009 Alpine Classic (I'll be doing my 1st), and what training they're doing (esp. in Adelaide).

Ill be there with not enough training under my belt. Climb Greenhill Road 8 times in a day and your close to being there. LOL. Before the first time I did the classic, I rode up lofty up to 20 times in a week. edited by Jeffrey Schulz on 18/12/2008

laps of Norton Summit was always a blast! I once arranged a group ride with a distance of 200kms and 3,000m of climbing in Adelaide...

There are a few of us that are planning on doing the TDU ride on the Friday and then drive over to do the Alpine classic on the Sunday. We meet each weekday morn at the corner of Greenhill and Hallets Rd at 6am and climb to Mt Lofty. plus some longer rides on the w/e. You're welcome to join us. cheers, cam

I saw a few south aussies (Fast Boys & others) at teh Alpine Classic - how did everyone else go? I did a tad over 9 hrs ride time, being my first one I went pretty conservatively - probably could've gone a bit harder on the first 120k up Falls Creek, Toowong Gap, etc. Having said that, Mt Buffalo in the heat of the afternoon was pretty tough (I was also questioning whether having down the TDU ride on the Fri was the best preparation!). It was a well organised event. Would I do it again?, probably, just to see what would happen if I pushed a bit harder.
How did everyone else go?
