I reckon' we use this thread to announce who we saw riding on the weekend and with whom. So if you spot LA or some of the other well known riders out training and preparing for the tdu, put a post up here to say where your moment of glory was.
Cheers and Beers, jd

Hi, Went for a cruise on my own to Strathalbyn and back after work last night. Sort of hoping I might spot a team or two rolling around the hills but I guess it was too late for them. No matter as perfect night for a spin arond the hills. Paris Creek road is an exceptional challenge and should definitely included in a future TDU to increase the torture factor

I saw a bunch of inconsiderate cyclists blocking the entire road yesterday on Gorge Road. They were all wearing Silence Lotto outfits and were being followed by a team car.

Saw AG2R at Mt Lofty, and then I think Slipstream at West Lakes.

Silence Lotto in Vic square last Sat morning before their jaunt up to Norton Summit. The other guy I was with at the time joined me in drooling uncontrolably over carbon and tiny clusters worth more than our cars. The lady we were with was more impressed with their tiny bums. Priorities I guess

On my way to work yesterday I stopped and chatted with Patrck Jonker for about 5 minutes (very nice fella).
He of course was just setting off for a casual ride with Lance, Stuey and Jack Bobridge.
He failed to invite me along though. My trusty repco commuter must have scared him off.
That's probably as close as I'll get.

Lampre on Greenhill Road, last bend before approaching the Cleland turnoff around 7.00pm tonight. Great seeing these teams on our roads.

Saw LA and the Astana team on the Teev this morning. Jeez seeing those dry crusty Adelaide Hills bought back some memories. I don't miss 40 degree days that's for sure.

Noel and Sam at MegaBike said Astana came up Windy Point this morning and through Blackwood (assuming they were doing the ride to Victor Harbour through Clarendon, Kangarilla, and Meadows.) Wonder if Lance got up Belair Road in under 7 mins 29???

Not a LA spotting, but I was the tour guide for Saxobank this morning Everyone (minus stuey!) had arrived a 8am and jumped straight on their bikes but had no idea where they were going so I did a nice 60km with them after they caught up at the traffic lights. Rode most of the time next to Jens Voigt - they are all lovely and even offered to pay me in coffee for my tour :P

Nice work Aimee, you're now an Ambassador for SA Cycling, good onya. This is part of the magic of this sport that we can have access to Elite sportsmen and women of this sport and be treated as a friend and companion. Well done

I went for a ride with Milram & Liquidgas yesterday, since I have Thursdays off. The pace was fairly easy and I had no trouble staying with them to Williamstown, but they (unsurprisingly) dropped me near the top of Checkers Hill, so I had to ride back to Gumeracha for morning tea by myself. What a tough life!
Yes, it's nice to have a following team car to block Gorge Road for me, but the real entertainment is watching these guys ride around town. They have no idea about our road rules and care less, assuming that everyone will get out of their way whenever they feel like turning across a lane or two.

How do you guys end up riding in groups with them? Do you just head to the Village in the morning and if you see a team leaving join on or are you just riding along and get caught by them and then hang on?
When I passed Caisse D'Epagne guys heading in the opposite direction yesterday I thought about maybe turning around and joining on but then thought it might be a bit weird (turning around and all )

If you turn up at the village around 9am during the week before the Tour, you won't be waiting long for a team or two to head out. I've done it about a dozen times over the years, and never had any objections. Obviously one should sit on the back, leave a respectful gap (i.e. a bike length rather than 6 inches!) and give them plenty of room to slot in when they roll off the front.
And if there's a team car following, signal it when you're about to be dropped, get out of its way and thank them for putting up with you :-)
